One Percent Better Young Mens Program
One Percent Better Young Men’s Program is a referral-based six-week mentoring and wellbeing initiative delivered each school term, designed to support young men through connection, positive role modelling, and practical life skills. Running weekly from 3:30pm–4:30pm, the program creates a safe and supportive space where participants can build confidence, strengthen communication, explore emotional wellbeing, and develop healthy coping strategies through engaging activities and real conversations.
Across the six weeks, participants will explore a range of topics including mindset, respectful relationships, leadership, emotional regulation, identity, resilience, and goal setting — all grounded in the message of becoming “1% better every day.” Sessions combine mentoring, movement-based activities, team challenges, and yarning circles to create meaningful engagement, accountability, and positive peer connection.
The program operates through a referral-only model to ensure young people who may benefit most from additional support, connection, and positive engagement opportunities are prioritised. Participants will also have opportunities to connect with trusted mentors and positive community role models, while accessing safe after-hours activities that promote belonging, routine, and wellbeing.
The overall aim of the program is to empower young men with the tools, confidence, support networks, and environment needed to make positive choices both in and outside of school — one percent better, every day.
